Osteopathy was established in the late 1800's and
has developed into a discreet non-surgical, physical therapy that can be beneficial for babies through to the elderly.
It
is a system of healthcare that diagnoses the causes of pain and/or dysfunction using observation, palpation (touch) and analysis
of muscle function and joint mobility.
Your Osteopath is a skilled clinician who will use a combination of orthodox
tests (such as blood pressure assessment, reflex testing etc.) and orthopaedic and osteopathic examination techniques to reach
a complete diagnosis.
Osteopathy is a whole body approach to healthcare that recognises the site of pain/dysfunction
may not necessarily be the cause.
Treatment involves a combination of manual techniques that will be aimed at restoring
normal function to muscles, joints, ligaments, discs etc. etc.

Osteopathy is not the same as Chiropractic nor Physiotherapy.
You may have tried these forms of treatment previously and even if they have not suited or worked for you, Osteopathy is
likely to be very different. See our web page Osteopathy & Physio.
Osteopathy is a whole body system of diagnosis
and treament using multiple soft tissue, articular and other techniques.
